Valentine's Day 2025 - how much will YOU spend?!

Valentine's Day - for some it's a chance to have the most romantic day ever, for others... it may be something they don't pay much attention to. Whilst many of us are getting ready to show our love with thoughtful gifts and special gestures, how much are people actually spending on their partners this year?

If you've ever wondered what other people do to celebrate the day (in terms of spending on Valentine's Day gifts, I'm not delving into anything personal!) then read on...

According to a survey carried out by NerdWallet UK, the average spend for Valentine's Day 2025 is going to be £83. Surprised?

Half of Brits are planning to make a purchase for Valentine's Day this year, with the highest spenders living in Belfast (£195 average spend) and London (£147 average spend). And who are the lowest spenders I hear you ask? Worcester, Wrexham and Gloucester, where residents are the most likely to spend £0 on Valentine's Day this year!

What about age groups this Valentine's Day? Well 18-24 year olds spend the most on their partner, with an average spend of £168. This goes down a little with 25-34 year olds, who spend an average of £144. And it seems the older we get, the less we spend on our Valentine, with those aged 55-64 likely to spend just £24, and over 65's spending £19. 

The more years together, the stronger the love, the less you need to spend perhaps?!

And what about men vs women? Well, men spend the most at £104 on average, whereas women spend an average of £63.

So now you know what to expect from your significant other this Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day 2022 - it's almost here!

January - that month that lasts for a year - is finally almost done. I do try very hard to think positive thoughts and not get the hump, but oh boy it can be a gloomy month sometimes! 

But the end of January means a new date on the calendar to look forward to: Valentine's Day! It doesn't matter if you're an ancient-married (points at self), a newly loved-upper, or single-and-content: this isn't just a day for couples, it's simply a day for love. Love for others, love for yourself, whichever and whatever. So on February 14th, I'd like to suggest that you treat yourself to a little of what you fancy!

Happy 2013!

I know, I know - I'm a bit late wishing you happy New Year, but the thought is still there! I hope you had a lovely Christmas and Santa was good to you?!

November and December were phenomenal months at PhotoFairytales HQ - the busiest ever, and it was fantastic to welcome both new and returning customers and to be able to help with their Christmas shopping. It never fails to give me a little judder of pleasure to think that my creations are being given to others and unwrapped on Christmas morning!

Arghhh - Valentine's Day!!!!!

Does this feel remotely familiar?..: You've been together for a while now and Valentine's Day is approaching. You take a look around the shops and are confronted with a range of items that are "sexy" (shudder) or "cute" (blurgh).

You've been through the edible knickers and penis-shaped pasta stage - and come out the other side. You don't want to give houseroom to something that is fluffy and red and, quite frankly, naff. You can't afford Tiffany's. You did the 'chocolate heart with their name on' from Thorntons last year - and possibly the year before that...

Hard isn't it? How do you find a present for the person you love (and who only this morning was squeezing a spot in the bathroom), that sums up what you feel?

Well, I might not have hit the nail on the head for everyone, but hopefully I've managed to come up with some ideas that might help.
